IAA 2014

The 2014 International Achievement Award was bestowed upon the Acadiana B&B Hoteliers. All the honorees are members of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission and have made a significant contribution to Acadiana’s reputation as a very hospitable and joyous place to visit.

For many international travelers, B&Bs are the initial welcoming door to our culture, tourism and way of life. B&B’s international guest percentage ranges from 30-98%. While their hosting capacity is far less than our hotel community, their percentage of international clientele is much more.  Many have welcomed visitors from Canada, U.K., France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Finland, Greece, China, South America, Australia, the Caribbean and the Philippines.
These Hoteliers’ foreign language skills and knowledge of Cajun and Creole culture and cuisine have greatly contributed to their ongoing success.
I would like to read some heart-felt comments that we received from the recipients. a few heart-felt comments received from the recipients.
“Our guests teach us so much about their culture. We have received over 1300 guests from France alone and many of them return.”
“We love meeting guests from all over the world, sharing our Cajun culture and sharing a vacation with them”
“We have made friends for a lifetime.”
‘Our knowledge of foreign languages has improved with the help of our international visitors”
“Our love for this business rests surely on the guests that have made retirement so worth it”.
