louisiana gulf coast oil exposition
2010 Recipient
International Achievement Award
Started in 1955, this biennial trade show and conference is one of the longest-established professional trade shows in Louisiana and it is now ranked as the second largest oil show in the United States. Over the years, show organizers have continually added new or unique services and amenities to benefit the exhibitors as well as to increase attendance. More recently, LAGCOE has been recognized as one of the top 200 trade shows in the United States. Tradeshow Week magazine has selected the exposition from among 4,700 shows for its coveted Tradeshow Week 200 listing, ranking it as one of the largest trade shows in the nation.
Until 2003, LAGCOE catered mainly to the U.S. and Gulf of Mexico oil and gas industry. That year, with the assistance of the International Center of Lafayette, the State of Louisiana Economic Development Office and the U.S. Department of Commerce, LAGCOE gained widespread international recognition thanks to its selection as one of the International Buyer Program trade shows. Affiliation with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the International Buyer Program has elevated the event and its exhibitors to a new and higher level of prestige and has increased international opportunities. As part of this program, Commercial Service energy specialists in embassies and consulates, particularly in the oil-producing areas of the world, qualify and recruit foreign buyers. Through promotion by the U.S. Commercial Service, foreign government officials, business executives, engineers and buyers from oil-rich nations around the globe are hearing about Lafayette, Louisiana, and the Louisiana oil and gas business community.
During the 2007 and 2009 editions of LAGCOE, hundreds of international visitors from Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, United Arabs Emirates, and Venezuela attended the event as a direct result of the IBP promotion through the U.S. Commercial Service.
